Chocking is very dangerous, you only have a little while so save yourself, or save your pet, if you or it is choking. If your duck is chocking this is how to help them:
Duck is choaking:
Here are steps to take if your bird is choking:
Step 1: Pull the bird’s head forward until the head and the beak form a straight line
Step 2: Open the bird’s bill, you can do this by squeezing the ends of the bird’s bill using your thumb and your index finger. Squeeze until the bird opens its bill
Step 3: Install rubber tubing into the mouth down the bird’s throat.
Step 5: Use a long thin yet stiff object, like a pencil, the back of a thin paintbrush, or a chopstick, down the tubing and push the stuck material down the bird’s throat.
Trying to break the material in the bird’s throat with the long thin object may help the material go down
Step 6: Keep pushing until the object or material that is stuck in the bird’s throat is dislodged. You can also massage the bird’s throat while you do this as a way to help break the object up.
Step 7: Once the item in the bird’s throat is dislodged you can remove the tubing from the bird’s throat.
After the object in the bird’s throat has been dislodged, keep the bird isolated and make sure that it is not exposed to any stresses.
The process of dislodging the object from the bird’s throat may have made the bird stressed, you don’t want to add more stress to this situation.
If you think that the bird has aspirated then you should immediately take the bird to the vet. The vet will be more equipped to take care of your bird at this point.
