How to tell if birds are bonded to each other:
A pair of bonded birds are two birds that have chosen each other to mate with each other, and they will show negative behaviors when they aren’t around each other.
Some bonded birds will be ok if they are in the same room as their mate and some birds need to be in the same cage or they will get agitated.
Here is how to tell if your pair of birds are a bonded pair:
Observe their behavior when parted:
One surefire way to know if your birds are really bonded together is to separate the two birds and see how they act when separated.
If the two birds are bonded then the birds will fret and act out when they are separated from one another.
If birds are bonded they will show negative behavior like being aggressive towards you when you separate them, they will make repetitive vocalizations, sound alarm calls and birds who are usually loud and active will be quiet and still
This negative behavior will stop once they are brought together again.
Good manners:
A bonded pair is between a male and a female bird and in this pair the male bird will be a gentleman and will be very polite to the female.
He will not try to dominate her and he will even let her eat first when food comes along.
If the male offers food to the female and she accepts it, you can expect some mating to happen soon after.
Mating may happen as him feeding her is a courting ritual that the male will do in order to win the female over so he can mate with her.
Birds that are bonded together will also preen each other to make sure that the other bird’s feathers are in tip-top shape. This is especially helpful on the bird’s head which a bird itself can’t reach.

Bird’s that are bonded to each other will do the best they can to stay in each other’s company.
The two birds will sit side by side, sleep by side, nap side by side, kiss each other, and the male will make sure that the female is fed and comfortable.
How to know if birds don’t like each other:
Birds who don’t like each other may share a cage but their actions will show that they are only tolerating each other.
Birds who like each other act very differently from birds who don’t like each other.
Birds who don’t like each other will peck at each other, bite each other, will chase each other around, will squawk at each other, will stay on opposite sides of the cage, and will fight each other.
If you notice that your birds are doing this then you may need to intervene and get them their own separate cages.
