How to make pigeon nest bowls:

Nest bowls are used to keep baby birds in place. These items can be bought online or in-store, they can also be made at home.

You can make a nest bowl using almost anything that your birds can comfortably fit in. When choosing the item that you’re wanting to make your nest bowl out of, choose something that can comfortably hold baby birds.

Planter dish nest bowl:

The dishes usually used under planters, to catch water, can work as nest bowls. You can find these dishes in the garden section at home depo.

You’d need to line the dish using a liner, or a nest pad, to prevent your baby bird’s legs from slipping. Nest bowls from stores have ridges on the bottom, these ridges are what keep the baby bird’s legs from spreading out.

Liners can be used in your planter nest bowl. The liners can be bought online, they come in large packs and are easy to dispose of. Nest pads can also be bought and they can be made at home as well.

Paper pulp nest bowls:

You can make a nest bowl out of paper pulp. You’ll need a mold, paper pulp, and some patience or an oven to make a paper pulp nest bowl.

Start off by making a batch of paper pulp and packing it tightly into your mold.

Once you’ve filled the mould with the paper pulp, separate the mould from the pulp bowl.

Place your new bowl, right side up, on a mesh surface to give it the opportunity to dry on all sides. Give the bowl time to set, cure and dry before using. You can place the bowl in an oven to help it dry quicker

Baby birds are unlikely to slip when in these bowls because the surface is not slippery, but you can choose to use a liner or a nest pad in these bowls if you wish.
